Needham Town Land Trust – grants for parishioner’s needs

When the Villlage School was sold in the early 60s (now the village hall) a charity trust fund was setup with ownership of land to the North of the school to benefit the residents of the village through provision of grants. This is still in force today. It is separate to the charity which maintains and operates the Village Hall for the benefit of the village.

The land behind the Village Hall is rented out to a local farmer and the rent from this is where the money comes from for the charity trust fund. Part of the land has recently been turned into the Nook and leased to the Parish Council for a 25 year term.

The money from the rent is managed by the Town Land Trust. They offer grants to any villager or who would like support to help pay towards heating, food bills, school books or school trips, clothing or any other domestic reasons. (As a grant this money does not have to be paid back.)

To apply for an amount of money please contact Reverand Nigel Tuffnell at 10, Swan Lane, Harleston. Or phone 01379 308905. It is hard in these times to ask for support but please be assured it is done in a very confidential way.

The charity trust fund will make a decision very quickly on an application.
